The Family Enhancement Class held its 16th annual Family Enhancement Camp at the Turtle Beach by Rex Resorts, Courland Bay, Grafton Road, Tobago from the 16th to 18th October 2015. This was the second time the camp was held at this venue and it still proved to be a marvelous affair. The camp coordinators were Bros. Murchisson Alexis and Errol Antoine.
The camp began on the Friday night with an informal discussion session ending with a karaoke competition thoroughly enjoyed by all.
Saturday morning began with a devotion which was then followed by a discussion session based upon presentations by Bro Murchisson Alexis (“The Man’s perspective”) and Sis. Anastasia Antoine ( “His needs, Her needs”). Participants expressed their views on the challenges of balancing work, church and home in order to build strong, christian families.
This session was then followed by a games tournament including card games and dominoes where prizes were up for grabs by the couples. This tournament lasted from mid-morning to lunch time and couples used the remainder of the afternoon to enjoy the resort, each other’s company and to prepare for the night’s programme.
Saturday night’s programme began at 6pm and was themed “BACK IN TIMES…HOW IT USED TO BE“. Couples were dressed in clothing from the seventies and eighties with prizes for the best dressed couple.
This celebration included a traditional Tobago folklore dance performance by the Les Coteau Dancers.
Sis Anastasia Antoine also made a presentation entitled “WHERE WE ARE” which showcased the progress of the Family Enhancement Class over the past year.
The programme also included special presentations by each of the couples which showcased their talents. Couples also took the time to express their love and appreciation for each other.
Attendees we also treated to a delicious buffet styled dinner. The night ended with the presentation of prizes and couples were free to socialize and enjoy the music.
On Sunday morning, campers attended worship with the exhortation being delivered by Bro Gregory Howard.
His message was focused on our commitment to God and our families. After worship, campers relaxed at the resort before finally departing for home.
It truly was a wonderful, enriching experience.
